So Myria is your favourite JRPG villain of all times?

I'd rather say she's the most interesting one for me, since the concept is so different from most of them, and she enables such a satisfying story structure. Depending on how you define "villain", my personal favorite is probably still Magus from CT, even if a lot of that is nostalgia.

Ahh I see, just wanted to understand your pov about her better, I like Lady Windy from Suikoden best.

Good choice too. I have a huge soft spot for the original Suikoden. As for Windy herself, I liked that she came across as competent and scheming rather than crazy, which is also sadly rare in that genre. And of course, keeping the focus on a single country is a good way to avoid the scope getting out of hand.

I also think she’s the cruellest of the JRPG villains ever made, as she puts McDohl in impossible situations so that not only does she scheme she quite literally wrecks his life by pitting him into situations such as where his parents Gremio & Teo die horribly the latter at his hands, and she enslaved Ted.

Honestly, she’s brilliant and evil, and I must say that only Mithos Yggdrasill ranks as high in my esteem as far as JRPG villains go.

True, even if I always saw it more as the Soul Eater forcing him into those situations, and Windy happened to be the best tool for the job. Or: once he took on the rune, Gremio, Teo and Ted would have died one way or the other.

And to circle back to Myria, that's what fascinates me so much about her: she's at the totally opposite end of the spectrum. She's not cruel, or at least doesn't see herself as such, she just has good intentions but is in so far over her head she doesn't know what to do (if you disregard BoF1, anyway).

I like to see it as Soul Eater bending fate to its whims to an extent but also Windy manipulating events to feed it as she wants it at full power once she steals it (not realizing it’ll restart at Lv 1 power so to speak).

But as to Myria I have no argument, she to my mind is a lot like Mithos in some ways but far less spiteful and cruel.
